Program Schedule For The 2022 Hamfest
0900 Hours : Jon Pearce, WB2MNF : WinLink Gateway
At the W2MMD Clubhouse we have implemented a WinLink gateway that provides both packet and VARA connection on 2 meters and VARA-HF connection on 40 meters. In case of an internet outage, it automatically switches to 40 meters, polling other stations for incoming email and sending outgoing email to distant stations that presumably still have internet coverage. This session will describe how we set all of that up. |
1000 Hours : Moderator : Tom Abernethy, W3TOM
What's New At The ARRL!
What's New At The ARRL!
- Tom Abernethy, W3TOM : ARRL Atlantic Division Director
- Bob Famiglio, K3RF : ARRL Atlantic Division Vice Director
- Tom Preiser, N2XW :ARRL Southern NJ Section Manager
This session is our annual update on significant events and activities within the ARRL.
This is your opportunity to ask questions and interact with ARRL leadership.
1100 Hours : Ron Block, NR2B : Lightning Protection
After a brief review of lightning’s characteristics, we will discuss the creation of a single ground for our radio station and the use of surge protectors to protect our equipment. We will then have a brief overview of the W2MMD Clubhouse grounding project as presented in the July issue of QST along with an invitation to visit the Clubhouse and see our implementation firsthand. I will be there to answer questions. |
1200 Hours : W2MMD Clubhouse Visit :
The W2MMD Clubhouse will be open for visitation by all hamfest attendees, with an emphasis on the grounding project as described in the July 2022 QST article, and a chance to see the work in progress on improving the Clubhouse and the antenna farm.
Please note that the Clubhouse will not be open for visitation until Noon, due to the morning use of the Clubhouse for the administration of the FCC exams. Kindly respect the needs of the test candidates by not disturbing them during testing.
I hope each of you will have an opportunity to visit our Hamfest on September 11th. Many Club members have volunteered to support this important event, and most will be wearing distinctive yellow shirts. So, mark the date on your calendar. See you there on Sunday morning, September 11th and bring your non-ham spouse and kids for free.
