Urb LeJeune joined our Club in November of 2016. From the beginning of his Club membership, Urb was a very active member. In 2017 he started the License Saturday classes at the W2MMD Clubhouse. In that first class, Urb helped license 22 new hams. At the 2018 class, he trained 7 new Technicians, 5 new Generals, and 4 General upgrades.
The 2019 class was held at Cooper Hospital in Camden. The class had 10 candidates with 4 new Technicians, 1 General, and 3 upgrade to General Class.

It is with deep sorrow that I have to announce that Urb LeJeune, W1UL became a silent key on Friday, January 22nd.
Urb served the Old Barney club for many years and enjoyed helping anyone who needed it. Urb was also a charter member of NJDXA. He held the call sign of W2DEC for most of his life prior to W1UL. Urb was fundamental in getting many operators licensed through his online training website and
his participation in VE testing for several organizations.
Urb’s wife, Pat Vogel NJ4DV, said that there would be no funeral or service at this time but the family is planning a “Celebration of Life” sometime later this year. Urb was known by many Amateur Radio Operators in Southern New Jersey. Urb’s presence will be missed by all who knew him.

To All GCARC Members:
I was deeply saddened to receive this message from Tom Preiser of ARRL. Urb, W1UL, was a very active member of GCARC, as well as several other NJ clubs, and was responsible for bringing many new hams into the hobby. His passing leaves a gap in our midst, and in our hearts, that will likely not be filled for some time to come. RIP Urb, W1UL.

We spent many hours on the phone talking about ham radio. So sad to hear this big time. He was a scholar and a super Gentleman. A great for all those he helped get their license.

He was a great person. I will miss him.73 Urb.
